Marlo Laubscher

Director. Admitted conveyancer, notary and FAMAC accredited mediator, practising law since 1998.

The person you will be dealing with

Marlo Laubscher founded this firm in 2006 and has run it since. If you phone about a conveyancing matter, an antenuptial contract, a will, a trust or a mediation, he is the one who will attend to it.

That is a deliberate choice rather than an accident of size. You deal directly with the attorney doing the work, from the first consultation to the last.

What he handles

Conveyancing. Notarial work, including antenuptial contracts. Company and trust registration. Contracts. Wills and deceased estates. Divorce mediation.

Nearly thirty years of practice has also taken in criminal law, Magistrates' Court and High Court litigation, motor vehicle accident claims, insolvent estates, trusts and commercial litigation. That breadth matters more than it sounds. Most legal problems arrive tangled up with another one, and a divorce that involves a property, a business and a will is four conversations in most firms and one here.

How he got here

Matriculated in 1990 at Gymnasium High School, here in Paarl, then read for a BA LLB at the University of Stellenbosch from 1991 to 1996, followed by six months at law school.

Articles were completed at Coetzee & Van der Bergh Attorneys in Oudtshoorn in 1998. From there, professional assistant posts at Meyer & Wessels and then Johan Beyers Attorneys in Mossel Bay, before returning to his hometown, Paarl, in 2003 to join Oosthuizen & Co.

In 2006 he started his own practice in Wellington, relocating to Paarl in 2012 as Marlo Laubscher Attorneys.

More than twenty years later, some of the clients from that first year are still clients.

Outside the office

Marlo is a member of the Rotary Club of Paarl and chairs the Board of Directors of Butterfly House. He has supported the Wellington SPCA and taken part in local community initiatives.

He grew up in this town, went to school in it, and came back to practise in it.
